San Hejmo's Mobile Network: Provider Executing Mast Upgrades
Deutsche Telekom Prepares for San Hejmo 2025 Music Festival
The San Hejmo 2025 music festival, scheduled to take place from August 15 to 16 at Airport Weeze, is expected to attract tens of thousands of attendees, resulting in a significant peak in data traffic in the Telekom mobile network. To ensure seamless connectivity for festival-goers, Deutsche Telekom has started extensive preparations well in advance.
Deutsche Telekom employs an AI-driven system called the "RAN Guardian Agent" to monitor the radio access network (RAN) and proactively manage resources. This AI assistant, built in partnership with Google Cloud on Gemini 2.0, continuously assesses capacity and detects early signs of cell congestion caused by increased user load. It uses public data sources to anticipate events and coordinates network resources accordingly[1][5].
When the event begins and network load surges, the RAN Guardian Agent dynamically reallocates cellular resources, adjusts network configurations, and coordinates assistance from neighbouring antennas to prevent network bottlenecks and service degradation. During periods of low demand, the AI can deactivate certain frequency bands to optimize energy and spectrum efficiency[1][5].
Deutsche Telekom is also enhancing its network for the festival by deploying six additional mobile antenna containers on the San Hejmo grounds. These containers will offer LTE and 5G mobile networks, aiming to increase network capacity temporarily[2].
The festival's preparation also takes into account factors such as topography, visitor flows, and data consumption predictions. Mathias Poeten, Head of Mobile Network at Deutsche Telekom, aims to offer the best network at the San Hejmo Festival for attendees to stay in touch and share their experiences in real-time.
The company is optimistic that these measures will ensure the mobile network performs significantly more than in normal daily operations, setting a new record for network usage at the San Hejmo 2025 festival[3]. With these preparations, Deutsche Telekom is taking steps to prevent network issues at the festival and ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for all attendees.
