SANY Presents Innovative, Integrated Hydrogen Production System Powered by Green Energy, Paving the Way for a Clean Energy Future

SANY, a leading global heavy machinery manufacturer, has taken a significant step forward in the hydrogen industry with the launch of its new GW-Grade hydrogen production solution. The solution, announced by Xiang Wenbo, the rotating chairman of SANY, aims to revolutionize the production, storage, transportation, and refueling of hydrogen, positioning SANY as China's largest provider of integrated hydrogen solutions within five years.

The new GW-Grade solution, designed for green hydrogen production using renewable electricity, features a smart thermal management system that maintains cell temperature variation within 3°C and achieves low auxiliary power consumption of around 1.8%. These innovations reduce energy loss by about 30% compared to conventional systems, enabling an estimated additional 200,000 kWh of electricity output annually. The system demonstrates verified reliability with 98% usable capacity retention after more than a year, supporting a 15–20% reduction in Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS).

The S-series square electrolyzer, a fundamental component of the GW-Grade solution, operates at an operation current density of 10,000A/m2 to guarantee high production efficiency. The S-series improves green electricity utilization rate by 10 percent and cuts maintenance cost by 30 percent, making it a practical solution for large-scale applications.

SANY Hydrogen, the hydrogen energy subsidiary of SANY Heavy Industry, has established an alkaline electrolyzer production line with an annual capacity of 1.5GW. This marks a significant achievement in overcoming the technical challenges of large-scale electrolyzer production.

The latest GW-GRADE offering from SANY Hydrogen capitalizes on the fundamental strengths of the S Series lineup, which includes a compact footprint, modular construction, increased current density, and pressurized operation, among others. SANY Hydrogen has also developed a 20MW electrolyzer test platform for product development and rapid iteration.

In its pursuit of core technological innovation, SANY Hydrogen has taken the lead in tackling core technologies such as automatic argon arc welding, prefabricated pressure pipeline, high-precision electrolyzer stacking, and the mass production of alkaline electrolyzer systems. The company is focused on elevating these innovations to support China's 2030/2060 "Dual Carbon" goals.

The new GW-Grade solution represents a new chapter in SANY's hydrogen technology development and aims to forge a new trajectory for the mass production and utilization of green hydrogen. SANY Heavy Industry has already announced the launch of the world's largest single hydrogen electrolyzer, the S-series square electrolyzer, which can produce 3,000 standard cubic meters of hydrogen per hour using renewable electricity.

With this latest innovation, SANY is laying out a comprehensive hydrogen industry chain and charting a new course for clean energy adoption by utilizing green electricity for large-scale hydrogen production. The company's goal is to achieve a closed supply chain across the entire industry ecosystem.
