SES Secures £12.5m Contract for IAAPS MEP Services
SES Engineering Services (SES) has secured a £12.5m contract to provide MEP services for the University of Bath's Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS). The new facility, set to be a global hub for ultra-low emission vehicle research, is currently under construction and expected to be operational in early 2021.
Work on the IAAPS project began in October 2019 and is scheduled for completion in August 2020. The 11,300 sq m site, located at the Bristol and Bath Science Park in Bristol, will house 17 specialist pieces of equipment for testing vehicle propulsion systems, along with offices, experimental spaces, workshops, and start-up space.
SES will deliver full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services for the two-storey scheme. The SES team, led by Global Head of Operations Andy Harris, will collaborate with Rydon Construction and other stakeholders to integrate complex technical requirements during the design process. Harris, previously leading revenue-generating teams at Enverus, brings extensive experience to the role. SES' Business Director for Midlands and South West, Steve Tovey, expressed confidence in SES' technical expertise and experience in delivering high-tech projects, citing the contract win as a testament to this.
The IAAPS project, once complete, will be a world-leading center for research and innovation into future advanced propulsion systems for ultra-low emission vehicles. SES' involvement in providing MEP services ensures that the facility will have the necessary infrastructure to support cutting-edge research and development, further cementing the UK's position as a global leader in automotive technology.
