Simplified Crypto Transactions Now Possible with Samsung Pay Integration in Updated Coinbase Application

Samsung Pay, the popular mobile payment service, has announced a new integration with Coinbase, the leading cryptocurrency platform. Starting from late July 2025, the integration will roll out gradually to select users in the U.S. and Canada, with full availability expected soon in the near future for all users in these regions.

The integration allows Samsung Wallet users to fund and trade cryptocurrency directly within the Coinbase app using Samsung Pay as a payment method. This move aims to make crypto buying as simple as tapping to pay. The seamless purchasing and deposit process eliminates the need to switch apps or re-enter payment details, improving ease of use.

Samsung Wallet consolidates Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass, secured by Samsung Knox and biometric authentication. The feature targets millions of mobile users across North America, marking Samsung's entry into the crypto payments sector. Coinbase, on the other hand, aims to provide a smoother path to crypto for these millions of users.

The rollout is gradual, spanning approximately a month for expansion from select users to wide availability. Users should note that not everyone will likely see availability simultaneously. However, full availability is likely by late August or soon thereafter.

Meanwhile, Samsung Pay has also introduced a new feature called "Tap to transfer" for Galaxy devices. This feature allows users to send money to someone, even if they are at a distance, as long as you have their phone number. To use "Tap to transfer", users can bump their phone against another person's phone to complete the transfer. This feature is available for eligible Visa and Mastercard accounts and works with a variety of third-party digital wallets, but it can also be used without one.

In addition, Samsung has started rolling out the ability for users to pay for items in installments via the Wallet app. This feature will provide users with the flexibility to pick the payment plan that works best for them from the "Pay in installments" option.

Coinbase's full integration with Samsung Pay is part of the company's efforts to extend support for more users in the near future. As the crypto market continues to grow, these partnerships are expected to make cryptocurrency more accessible and user-friendly for millions of people.

  1. As the integration between Samsung Pay and Coinbase progresses, Samsung Wallet users will be able to utilize their technological advancements to finance their cryptocurrency purchases directly within the Coinbase app, making it as easy as tapping to pay.
  2. Samsung's entry into the crypto payments sector through the Coinbase integration and the debut of the "Tap to transfer" feature aids in the democratization of finance by making cryptocurrency more accessible and user-friendly for millions of people, as the crypto market continues to grow.
