SK Networks successfully organizes "SK Networks AI WAVE 2025," reaffirming its dedication to broadening the AI domain.

On September 17th, 2025, the SK Networks AI WAVE 2025 event took place at the prestigious Wavehill, Walkerhill Hotel & Resort in Seoul. Co-sponsored by HF0, a renowned fund known for its AI startup residency program in Silicon Valley, the event brought together over 100 participants, including investors, founders, and industry leaders.

The day began with a keynote speech delivered by Sunghwan Choi, SK Networks' President & COO. Choi emphasised the importance of Sovereign AI for digital sovereignty and future industries, and stressed the need for tailored models optimised for the Korean cultural background and industrial environment.

Following the keynote speech, a panel discussion on 'The Future of AI and Smart Investment Strategies' took place. The panel featured Dan Morse, Head of IR at HF0, Sang Eun Shin, Head of AI Growth at SK Networks, Minseok Bae, PhnyX Lab Founder & CEO, Raven Gao, Pix AI Co-founder & CEO, and Sunghwan Choi. The theme of the discussion was 'The Future of Sovereign AI'.

During the panel, Sunghwan Choi suggested that Korea should build its own AI ecosystem through bold government-led investments and public-private cooperation models. Sung Kim, the CEO of Upstage, a startup selected for the government-led 'Independent AI Foundation Model' project, also emphasised the importance of securing Korea's technological leadership in the LLM field.

In addition to the panel discussion, company presentations and Q&A sessions were held for SK Networks' portfolio companies, led by Sang Eun Shin, and for HF0 portfolio companies, led by Dan Morse. Companies featured at the event included Upstage, PhnyX Lab, and Pix AI.

Technologies showcased included platforms that automate advertising and animation production using AI and AI-based lending platforms. Sung Kim mentioned plans to develop highly practical, industry-specific specialized models and expand a sustainable, independent AI ecosystem.

Sunghwan Choi concluded the event by stating that SK Networks AI WAVE 2025 was designed as a platform for exchange and to strengthen connections among industry stakeholders. SK Networks aims to accelerate its transformation into an AI enterprise by advancing its business model and strengthening investment collaborations. The event marked a significant step towards Korea's AI development and underscored the growing importance of Sovereign AI in the global AI landscape.
