Sling TV Expands to North Africa with NINETNINE Partnership

Sling TV, a prominent streaming service, is broadening its content offerings to cater to North African communities in the US. The platform, renowned for its AVoD model, has partnered with NINETNINE to bring ten linear North African channels to American households. This marks NINETNINE's initial foray into the US content distribution market.

NINETNINE, co-founded by Samir Zehani and Adel Hamla, aims to provide high-quality content to North Africans living abroad in the US. The company has acquired rights for all live TV content and is aggregating and distributing it to Sling TV. This collaboration is praised by international film producer and investor Tarak Ben Ammar, who commends NINETNINE's expertise in reaching new audiences.

The ten channels will be available free to households across the US, following an Advertising Video on Demand (AVoD) business model. This move is part of Sling TV's strategy to cater to different communities, as stated by Liz Riemersma, VP International of Sling TV. The service is being launched in partnership with SpectrumAV, a global provider of satellite transmission services, though the exact role of SpectrumAV in this deal may vary depending on sources.

NINETNINE's entry into the US market brings a wealth of North African content to Sling TV viewers. The AVoD model ensures accessibility to these channels, further enriching Sling TV's diverse content offerings. The success of this partnership may pave the way for similar collaborations in the future.
