Smart Contract Oversight Committee Consists of Thirteen Members from Polygon
Polygon Labs, the leading blockchain development platform, has announced a new initiative called PIP-29. This initiative establishes the Protocol Council, a group of 13 influential members tasked with overseeing modifications to Polygon's smart contracts and technology.
The Protocol Council is designed to ensure the security and smooth operation of smart contracts on Polygon. Notable members include ZachXBT, Mudit Gupta, Viktor Bunin, Zaki Manian, and Anthony Sassano, among others. The Council's decisions are focused on maintaining the integrity and efficiency of Polygon's technology.
The Council requires approval from at least 7 out of the 13 members for most changes, with a standard 10-day waiting period. However, in urgent situations, 10 out of the 13 members can make immediate changes to Polygon's technology, bypassing the waiting period.
This new approach differs from the typical community voting process on Polygon. The streamlined decision-making process in the Protocol Council aims to balance security and the ability to update Polygon's technology efficiently.
The Council will oversee changes to Polygon's smart contracts and technology, providing a more structured approach to updates when necessary. The goal is to ensure the stability and growth of Polygon's network while maintaining its security.
Unfortunately, the identities of six additional members of the Protocol Council remain undisclosed at this time. As more information becomes available, the community can look forward to a more transparent and secure future for Polygon's smart contracts and technology.
