Introducing SpaceX's Durable Starlink Enhancement Kit for Higher Performance

SpaceX's latest innovation, the Starlink Performance Kit, is a rugged satellite internet solution designed for demanding and harsh environments. This enterprise-grade system is perfect for remote locations, maritime conditions, and high-vibration use cases like construction, mining, or long-haul transport.

High-Speed Connectivity and Robust Environmental Protection

The Starlink Performance Kit delivers download speeds of 400+ Mbps, with gigabit-ready hardware, allowing for future speed upgrades via software without the need for new hardware. Upload speeds can reach up to 75 Mbps.

This kit boasts an impressive durability and environmental resistance, with an IP69K rating when installed (dustproof, submersible, and able to withstand high-pressure washdowns) and an IP68 rating when unplugged. It operates in extreme temperatures from –40°C to 60°C and can tolerate wind speeds over 270 kph. It also includes a built-in heater capable of melting snow at 3.5 inches per hour.

Antenna and Connectivity

The system features a rugged aluminum pan-style phased-array dish with a 140° field of view, optimized for motion and vibration environments. The dish supports in-motion connectivity, suitable for RVs, boats, and remote areas.

Power and Mounting Flexibility

The Starlink Performance Kit comes with an advanced power supply accepting AC/DC input, providing Power over Ethernet (PoE), and is rack-mountable with DC-backup-ready features. The included 25 m (82 ft) performance cable supports connection to third-party routers or the Starlink Gen 3 router. Compatible mounts include flat, pipe, wedge, and marine mounts, enabling fixed or in-motion setups.

Router and Network Specs

An optional router supports Wi-Fi 6 (tri-band 2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz) with 4x4 MU-MIMO antennas, up to 235 connected devices, and WPA2 security. The router operates between –22°F to +122°F, with limited outdoor IP56 water resistance.

Warranty and Longevity

The dish is designed for a 10-year field life and is backed by a 3-year warranty, underscoring its rugged, long-term use readiness.

Service Plans and Pricing

Monthly service plans for the Starlink Performance Kit range from $65/month for 50GB, $165/month for 500GB, $290/month for 1TB, and $540/month for 2TB. The Starlink Performance Kit is currently available only in the U.S.

Future Upgrades and Availability

SpaceX plans to unlock gigabit speeds in remote areas via software and network enhancements starting in 2026, without requiring new hardware. As for the availability in Canada, SpaceX has not yet announced a timeline.

Durability and Survivability

The Starlink Performance terminal can survive hail impacts up to 1.25 inches and submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.

Out of the Box Performance

Out of the box, users can expect download speeds exceeding 400 Mbps with the Starlink Performance Kit. The service plans do not provide information on any potential price changes or upgrades in the future.

Advanced Power Supply and Aluminum Enclosure

The Starlink Performance terminal includes an Advanced Power Supply that supports both AC and DC power, features a backup battery input for seamless failover, and offers smart diagnostics with LAN and high-power PoE outputs. The terminal is housed in a powder-coated aluminum enclosure for resistance to corrosion and impact.

In summary, the Starlink Performance Kit is engineered for mission-critical, harsh environment satellite internet connectivity, combining high speeds, robust environmental protection, flexible installation options, and future-proof capabilities for enterprise and mobile applications.

The Starlink Performance Kit, with its high-speed connectivity, delivers download speeds of 400+ Mbps and upload speeds of up to 75 Mbps, making it suitable for science, space-and-astronomy, and technology-intensive applications. Its advanced power supply accepts AC/DC input and includes a backup battery input, ensuring uninterrupted service even in remote, challenging environments.

Featuring a rugged aluminum pan-style phased-array dish and suitable for in-motion connectivity in various environments like RVs, boats, and construction sites, the Starlink Performance Kit is designed with technology to endure extreme temperatures, high winds, and robust enough to survive hail impacts and submersion in water.
