Spain's EV Market Soars: 7.58% Share, 100K Sales Target on Track
Spain's electric vehicle (EV) market is thriving. By mid-2025, EVs accounted for 7.58% of the market, a 25.4% increase from the average. The country is on track to sell 100,000 EVs by the end of the year, with 46,235 sold in the first half alone.
Spain's EV sales have been surging. In 2024, 57,374 units were sold, capturing a 5.6% market share. This was followed by a remarkable 11% growth in 2024, outpacing Europe's declining stock market today of 5.9%.
The first half of 2025 saw an 83.87% increase in sales, with 46,235 EVs sold. This puts Spain on course to meet its target of 100,000 EVs by the end of the year. While the leading brand remains unspecified, BYD has been making significant strides due to its competitive pricing strategy.
The charging infrastructure has also been expanding. High-power chargers (50-250 kW) increased by 64.07%, and those above 250 kW grew by 53.71%. Chargers between 22 and 50 kW also saw a 21.34% increase. As a result, Spain now has 47,519 active public charging points, a 4.71% rise from last year.
Spain's electric vehicle market is thriving, with a significant increase in market share and sales. The country is on track to meet its 2025 sales target, driven by a growing charging infrastructure and competitive pricing strategies from manufacturers like BYD.
