Squarespace Streamlines URL Changes, Boosts Site Speed

Squarespace has rolled out a significant update to its platform. The change ensures a smoother user experience and enhances site performance by directly updating internal links when an article's URL changes.

Previously, when an article's URL was modified, Squarespace would create a news from the old URL to the new one. This method, while preserving SEO value and preventing broken links, also led to unnecessary redirects, slowing down site performance.

The new system, however, automatically updates all internal links that previously pointed to the old URL. These links now directly point to the new URL, eliminating the need for redirects. This change not only improves site speed but also provides a more seamless experience for readers, as they are no longer routed through a redirect when clicking on internal links.

Squarespace's platform update streamlines the URL change process. By directly updating internal links, the platform reduces unnecessary redirects, enhances site performance, and offers a more seamless reading experience for users.
