Standalone Version of Free Particle Illusion Introduces Natural Liquid Dynamics
Boris FX has released a new update for its standalone application, Particle Illusion, bringing a host of exciting features and improvements to visual effects artists.
The highlight of this update is the integration with Stability AI, which allows users to generate custom sprites within Particle Illusion. This feature significantly expands the versatility of particle effects, providing a wealth of creative possibilities.
The new update also introduces the Fluid Dynamics feature, which brings particle animations to life with the beauty of photorealistic organic movement. This feature is part of the broader Continuum 2024 update from Boris FX, which includes AI-driven enhancements and new control options for particle generation within the software.
Apple M1-supported Mac users will experience significant performance speed increases with the Particle Illusion standalone application. The expanded Emitter Library allows users to create complex animations with multiple emitters, forces, deflectors, fluids, and even position data, and save it as a single preset called a "Scene".
The Particle Illusion standalone application features a fast, user-friendly workflow with thousands of professionally designed presets. Advanced features include 3D particle emission, forces, deflectors, lines, turbulence, motion blur, depth of field, and direct rendering to ProRes and H.264.
For those who prefer a plugin version, Particle Illusion is available inside popular video editing software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Blackmagic Resolve, Foundry Nuke, and VEGAS Pro. The plugin version offers a more streamlined workflow with features like compositing particle animations directly over source footage, integrated Mocha for tracking and masking, and the built-in Beat Reactor for driving animations to music.
The Continuum Particles Unit can be purchased as a permanent license for $399, or as an upgrade from a previous version for $99. Users can also purchase the Particle Illusion multihost plugin with three options: an annual subscription for $95, a monthly subscription for $15, or a permanent license for $295.
For those interested in learning more about Particle Illusion, a comprehensive tutorial series is available, featuring 25 bite-size videos covering installation, preset use, and the newly added Fluid Dynamics feature.
