Tablet giants Lenovo and Acer set to unveil Tegra 3 devices running Android's Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Tablets powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core processor were all the rage coming into the holiday season of 2011-2012, with big names like Asus, Acer, and Lenovo ready to hop on the bandwagon. The Asus Transformer Prime led the charge as the first to use this beastly chip, but competition was bound to heat up.
An insider from Digitimes in Taiwan, the hub of these tech giants, shares some insights about the market landscape: it seems these quad-core devices would offer incremental improvements in performance and design, but the core concept remains the same. That's right, folks. The quad-core hype might not be as earth-shattering as we thought, with Stock Android experience (still the talk of the town in tablets at that point) being the norm.
While these upcoming tablet contenders won't exactly reinvent the wheel, they will come with hefty GPUs, promises of video capabilities beyond 1080p, and competitive prices (Acer and Lenovo eyeing the sweet spot between $459 and $599). The market seems to agree, as customers are generally reluctant to fork over over 600 dollars for a tablet that isn't an iPad.
Stay tuned as CES 2012 approaches for some on-location coverage of the action!
