Tech company Onward Technologies planning to launch a design center in Chennai, aiming to employ around 2,000 workers.

Onward Technologies, a leading engineering solutions provider, is set to bolster its global delivery network with the establishment of a new offshore design centre in Chennai, India. This centre will serve as the company's largest facility, primarily focusing on supporting global clients in the Industrial Equipment, Heavy Machinery, Transportation, and Mobility sectors [1][3].

The new centre, designed as an extended digital and engineering research & development (ER&D) team, will boast advanced training facilities, software labs, and employee amenities [1][3]. This expansion is expected to double the employee capacity in Chennai to 2,000, up from the current base of over 1,000 employees in Chennai and Pune each [1][4].

The move is a response to the growing demand for offshore services from US and European clients. Jigar Mehta, Managing Director of Onward Technologies, stated that the company will continue to invest in its global delivery model to maintain agility and responsiveness [1].

In addition to the Chennai expansion, Onward Technologies is also reinforcing its presence in Europe by relocating and opening offices in Birmingham, UK, and Munich, Germany. These offices will provide closer proximity to Transportation and Mobility clients, complementing the offshore expansion in India [1][2].

Onward Technologies' existing India operations include delivery centres in Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, offering comprehensive offshore leverage across digital, embedded, and mechanical engineering services [1][2].

In summary, the new offshore design centre in Chennai, India, will serve as Onward Technologies' largest facility, aiming to meet the growing offshore demand from US and European markets. The centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art training centres and software labs, and will double the employee capacity in Chennai to 2,000. This expansion is part of a broader global strategy that includes European office expansions for local client proximity and agility [1][2][3][4].
