Telegram and WhatsApp Users Face Two Days of Outages in Russia

Residents across multiple regions, including Yakutia, have faced two days of disruption in using popular messaging apps Telegram and WhatsApp Web. Around 19,000 users have reported issues in the last 24 hours.

The cause behind these outages remains unclear. However, Russia's communications regulator, Roskomnadzor, has classified both apps as extremist, which may be linked to the restrictions.

Users have been unable to send or receive messages, with some experiencing complete app crashes. The outages have affected a significant number of users, with over 10,000 reports for WhatsApp and around 9,000 for Telegram in the past day.

While the exact reason for the disruptions is still unknown, the classification of these apps as extremist by Roskomnadzor may be a contributing factor. Both WhatsApp and Telegram are working to resolve the issues and restore services for their users.
