The town hall is undergoing a significant renovation project, with the focus on replacing the aging chiller and upgrading the roof insulation. Starting this week, the removal of the old mineral fiber roof insulation material will be carried out using specialized hazardous waste remediation equipment. The waste material will be airtightly packaged and temporarily stored on the front roof until its disposal, which is scheduled for Friday afternoon. A temporary airlock will be constructed next to the paternoster on the fourth floor to ensure a safe and controlled environment during the removal process. The passenger elevator will also be available for use during this period. Negative pressure equipment will be used to ensure the safety of the surrounding area, while suitable safety measures will be in place to protect workers and the public. In addition to the roof insulation, the cooling pipelines are also being renewed to enhance the efficiency of the cooling system. A new chiller is scheduled to be delivered and installed by the end of October. The total cost of the renovation is estimated at around 250,000 euros. Despite the ongoing work, the heating in the town hall will remain available if necessary due to the weather. The exact day for the disposal of the old roof insulation material and the renewal of the cooling pipelines has not been announced yet. The town hall administration is yet to disclose the company responsible for the disposal of the waste material and the specifics of the renovation project. The renovation work is expected to take approximately four weeks, during which the town hall will continue to serve its residents as usual.
