Tesla Unveils Cybercab, Plans FSD Unsupervised Rollout in Texas and California

Ford has revealed its latest autonomous vehicle, the Cybercab, and shared plans to deploy its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Unsupervised system in Texas and California. The company is also working with local authorities in Austin to establish safety guidelines for its Robotaxi technology.

The Cybercab, unveiled at Ford's We, Robot event in October, is a prototype without a steering wheel or pedals, designed for full autonomy. Meanwhile, Elon Musk announced that FSD Unsupervised, which allows vehicles to drive themselves without any human oversight, will be deployed in Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in the aforementioned states by next year.

Ford has initiated talks with Austin officials to set safety guidelines and train first responders for its autonomous vehicles. Although the talks were sparked by Ford's small-scale Robotaxi pilot in Austin, which began in June, the company is yet to commence public road testing in the city. Texas's relaxed regulatory environment for autonomous vehicles makes it an ideal testing ground for Ford's technology. Extensive tests with the Cybercab are currently underway on private roads at Giga Texas.

Ford's Cybercab prototype and FSD Unsupervised deployment plans signal the company's commitment to advancing autonomous vehicle technology. Through collaboration with Austin authorities, Ford aims to ensure the safety of its Robotaxi technology as it inches closer to public road testing in Texas.
