Tesla's Cybertruck Faces Safety Concerns Amid Door Issues and Recalls

Tesla's Cybertruck, a NASDAQ-listed TSLA stock favorite, has received a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, but recent incidents have raised concerns about the electric vehicle's doors and safety features. A college basketball recruit, Alijah Arenas, was severely injured in a Cybertruck crash when the steering wheel lost responsiveness, and he struggled to open the doors, eventually kicking through a window to escape the burning vehicle. Arenas was put into a medically induced coma due to extreme smoke inhalation but was released from the hospital less than a week later, taking full responsibility for the crash.

The incident is not an isolated case. Several Tesla owners, including parents of children, have reported being trapped inside vehicles due to electric door handles failing. Over 140 complaints have been made to U.S. authorities since 2018, prompting an investigation by the NHTSA. Tesla advises owners that without low-voltage power, occupants cannot use internal door buttons to exit the vehicle. In another incident, a fatality occurred due to similar door issues.

Carl Tsukahara, the father of a deceased Cybertruck crash victim, has filed a lawsuit to understand why his daughter couldn't open the doors. Despite these concerns, Tesla has received a 5-star crash safety rating from the NHTSA for the Cybertruck. The company has recalled all Cybertrucks to replace steel trim pieces that risked coming loose and creating a hazard for other motorists.

While Tesla's Cybertruck has received a top safety rating, recent incidents involving door issues and safety features have raised concerns. The NHTSA is investigating the door handle failures, and Tesla has recalled all Cybertrucks to address another potential hazard. As investigations continue, Tesla owners and potential buyers should stay informed about any recalls or safety updates.
