Tesla's Latest Software Update (2025.26): Enhanced AI Capabilities and Additional Features Revealed
Tesla Unveils Major Update with Grok AI, Enhanced Supercharging, and More
Tesla has announced its latest software update, version 2025.26, which is set to roll out shortly to Tesla owners. This update brings a host of new features, including the in-car debut of Grok 4, xAI's next-generation conversational AI.
Grok, currently available only for Tesla owners in the United States, is integrated into the vehicles' infotainment system. Users can access Grok (Beta) under App Launcher > Grok or by pressing and holding the voice button on the steering wheel. The AI chatbot offers multiple personalities and voices, such as "Storyteller" or "Unhinged," and interactions with Grok are securely processed by xAI and remain anonymous to Tesla.
The update also introduces Light Sync for the new Model 3, Model Y, 2026 Model S/X, and Cybertruck. This feature allows accent lights to pulse with music or match album colours, adding a touch of personalisation to the driving experience.
Tesla has also made improvements to the Supercharging experience. Arrival-based notifications now detail parking rules, access codes, charger locations, and restroom availability, making it easier for drivers to navigate the charging process.
Moreover, the Dashcam viewer has been upgraded, adding zoom, playback speed control, and a grid-view interface for Cybertruck owners. Additionally, new Model 3 and Model Y drivers will find an Onboarding Guide in the Service section, offering tutorials on touchscreen controls, driver profiles, and steering wheel functions.
In terms of audio customisation, the update allows users to create and save multiple audio presets. However, it's important to note that Grok and Light Sync are limited to Tesla vehicles with AMD Ryzen infotainment chips.
As for international availability, there is currently no official timeline or announcement for Grok’s expansion to other countries. Tesla is still focusing on the U.S. market where the initial rollout is underway. The global rollout likely depends on how the U.S. pilot progresses and on overcoming regulatory and technical challenges.
Users need either Premium Connectivity or a Wi-Fi connection to access Grok (Beta). They can sign in and sync their Grok history across devices or interact in guest mode without an account.
This update represents one of Tesla's most substantial this year, further solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle industry. With the integration of Grok AI and other innovative features, Tesla is pushing the boundaries of in-car technology and user experience.
