"The classic Renault model, the 4, now comes in a van version boasting a 254-mile electric range"
The French automaker, Renault, has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the introduction of the Renault 4 EV Cargo Van. This new addition to the Renault family is designed to cater to the needs of businesses and individuals looking for a practical and efficient electric delivery solution.
Unlike many commercial variants of cars, the rear windows of the Renault 4 EV Cargo Van aren't tinted for privacy as standard. This design choice ensures a clear view of the cargo area, enhancing safety and security.
The cargo capacity of the Renault 4 EV Cargo Van is impressive, boasting a volume of 1045 litres. This space can be further optimised with an optional mesh bulkhead. The van also features lashing hooks for secure cargo transportation.
The Renault 4 Van is produced at the Maubeuge plant in France, with the conversion of the Renault 4 Van into a Cargo variant being performed by Renault's in-house customisation service, Qstomize, at the same location.
Two powertrain options are available for the Renault 4 EV Cargo Van. The entry-level powertrain features a 118bhp front-mounted motor and a 40kWh battery, offering a range of 191 miles. The more potent powertrain includes a 148bhp motor and a 52kWh battery, which boosts the range to 254 miles. Notably, both powertrains have a charging time from 15-80% of 30 minutes, with the more potent powertrain benefiting from a higher peak charging rate of 100kW compared to the entry-level powertrain's 80kW.
The Renault 4 Van has yet to be confirmed for the UK, but is currently under evaluation for sales there. However, it's worth noting that the entry-level powertrain is not offered in UK-market versions. Depending on the market, additional features such as privacy covers for the load bay, functions to prevent the rear doors and windows from opening, and anti-slip mats for the load bay may be available.
The Renault 4 EV Cargo Van is a versatile and practical addition to Renault's EV lineup, promising to deliver both efficiency and reliability for businesses and individuals alike. With its impressive cargo capacity, multiple powertrain options, and a range of customisation possibilities, the Renault 4 EV Cargo Van is set to make a significant impact in the electric delivery vehicle market.
