Tulsa's Performing Arts Center Undergoes Audio and Lighting Modernization
The Tulsa Performing Arts Center (TPAC) has undergone a significant transformation, thanks to a collaboration with Brown Note Productions, Schuler Shook, and TPAC's in-house team. This ambitious project has resulted in a state-of-the-art audiovisual system that elevates TPAC's position as a top-tier destination for national tours and high-profile acts.
At the heart of this transformation is an immersive audio system, featuring DiGiCo Quantum digital consoles, which guarantees a high-quality audio experience for every audience member, regardless of their seating location. The system also includes a next-generation ETC Paradigm architectural lighting system, offering a flexible and powerful environment that can accommodate various genres, from Broadway blockbusters to opera, rock concerts, and lecture series.
Brown Note Productions integrated an extremely modern and complex system into a facility originally built in 1977, demonstrating their expertise in the field. The installation includes smart rigging technology, enabling more efficient and flexible set manipulation, and an intelligent hoist system that allows for line arrays to be flown out of sight at the push of a button.
The new system also features integrated redundant Optocore, Milan, and Dante digital audio networks, ensuring seamless and reliable operation. Precise scheduling and adaptability were key aspects of the installation process, which was coordinated closely with TPAC staff to work around an intensive schedule of over 500 annual events.
The installation process was a resounding success, eliminating the need for manual takedowns and reducing labor costs and logistical headaches. The completed system significantly enhances the in-venue experience for both patrons and performers, aligning with TPAC's 'Arts for All' mission.
This upgrade not only positions TPAC to offer higher-quality, more technically sophisticated productions but also provides a richer sensory experience for audiences, aligning with contemporary standards in performing arts venues. The successful collaboration between TPAC and Brown Note Productions paves the way for future projects between the two parties, ensuring that TPAC remains at the forefront of technological advancements in the performing arts industry.
