Unveiling of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max by Apple
The technology giant, Apple Inc., has announced the release of its latest premium smartphones, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. These devices are packed with an array of innovative features, setting a new standard in smartphone technology.
Starting with the visuals, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max boast a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion and Always-On display. The new display offers a smoother and more responsive user experience, thanks to the 1Hz refresh rate and multiple power-efficient technologies. The Always-On display keeps the time, widgets, and Live Activities available at a glance, making the devices more convenient to use.
In terms of photography, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have received significant upgrades. The new front TrueDepth camera features an ƒ/1.9 aperture, which enables better low-light performance for photos and videos. The new Adaptive True Tone flash has been completely redesigned with an array of nine LEDs that change pattern based on the chosen focal length.
The main camera has been upgraded to a 48MP sensor, which offers a 2x Telephoto option that uses the middle 12 megapixels of the sensor for full-resolution photos and 4K videos with no digital zoom. The improved Telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom.
For pro users, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can now shoot ProRAW at 48MP, providing an unprecedented level of detail and enabling new creative workflows. The devices also offer Pro-level workflows for video, including ProRes and end-to-end Dolby Vision HDR.
The new quad-pixel sensor combines every four pixels into one large quad pixel equivalent to 2.44 μm, resulting in amazing low-light capture and keeping photo size at a practical 12MP. This means that for most photos, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max deliver the same high-quality images as their predecessors, but with improved low-light performance.
The devices will be available in four colours: deep purple, silver, gold, and space black. To complement these new iPhones, Apple is launching a Leather Wallet with MagSafe and iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max Leather Cases in five new colours. Additionally, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max Clear Case and Silicone Cases will be available in multiple colours.
Customers in the US can pre-order the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max until 10 p.m. PDT on Thursday, September 8. Customers can save up to $1,000 (US) on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with trade-in directly from Apple's website or at an Apple Store. As an added bonus, customers who purchase iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive three months of Apple Arcade with a new subscription.
Lastly, Apple has announced that iOS 16 will be available as a free software update on Monday, September 12. One of the key features of iOS 16 is the Emergency SOS via satellite, which will be available starting in the US and Canada in November.
