Upcoming August 2025 Security Update for Windows 11 introduces 8 fresh functionalities

The August 2025 Security Update for Windows 11 brings a host of new features and improvements, enhancing the user experience and productivity. Among the updates, there are significant improvements to Windows Recall and Click to Do AI actions.

With the new update, users can now export and completely reset Windows Recall data, providing better control over this feature. Windows Recall, an AI-powered tool that helps users quickly find and revisit apps, websites, images, or documents by describing their content, benefits from this update [2].

Click to Do, a versatile feature that allows users to perform tasks with voice commands, expands its functionality with the addition of new AI-based actions. These enhancements make Click to Do more responsive and versatile [1].

The August 2025 update also introduces a new AI agent for the Settings app, and several new AI actions for Click to Do, including "Practice in Reading Coach", "Read with Immersive Reader", "Draft with Copilot in Word", "Send a message with Teams", and "Schedule a meeting with Teams" [1]. The "Draft with Copilot in Word" AI action is available only with a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

The Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) feature is another significant addition. This new recovery tool, designed to reduce downtime in case of boot failures, is now available by default on Windows 11 Home. Pro users will need to configure it manually [1].

The Snap Layouts flyouts from the maximize button and the top of the screen experience are getting inline descriptions to help users better understand how to use the feature. Additionally, the touch keyboard layout optimized for gamers is now available for PIN sign-in, allowing users to enter their account PIN more quickly using a game controller [1].

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the update allows data export to share with third-party apps and websites. Furthermore, Microsoft has ditched the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) for a new minimal design that switches to a black background, providing only necessary information such as the stop error code and process of the dump creation [1]. This new page doesn't include a QR code or frown face kaomoji, and the error will probably be known as the Black Screen of Death.

The August 2025 Security Update also includes a new option to reset the Windows Recall feature completely. The rollout of the AI agent for the Settings app starts with this update. Users can enable these new features manually using tools like ViVeTool if they do not immediately appear after the update [3].
