Upcoming VidTrans Event in 2025 to Emphasize Security and Innovative Media Production Strategies
The video services industry is gearing up for a significant event, as the Video Services Forum (VSF) hosts VidTrans 2025. Scheduled from February 25 to 27 at the Marina del Rey Marriott in Marina del Rey, California, this annual conference and exposition promises to be a hub for professionals involved in video transport and delivery technologies.
Kicking off a day early, on February 24, the VSF will offer a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) Training Workshop and a half-day NMOS User Workshop. These pre-conference workshops, which are now open for registration, are designed to provide attendees with valuable insights and hands-on experiences.
The PTP Workshop is aimed at facility engineers, system integrators, and end users, offering a comprehensive understanding of PTP. It will cover the basics of PTP, demonstrate its use with SMPTE ST 2110 essence streams, and describe implementation strategies within a facility. Attendees will also learn how to set up and troubleshoot PTP for media essence flow synchronization at a production facility.
The NMOS User Workshop, on the other hand, is intended for the technical staff of end users such as broadcasters and system integrators who deal with control protocols. This workshop will provide attendees with the tools needed to understand NMOS. Trainers will lead participants step by step, from bootstrapping to connection management, and will demonstrate how to use off-the-shelf tools to understand the protocols. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops for a hands-on experience.
In addition to these workshops, VidTrans 2025 will feature a series of expert presentations on timely technical topics. Key topics will include evolving live sports transport, application security, proactive monitoring and service assurance, dynamic media facilities, and securing live production environments in the cloud. The event will also address security in media production, evolving live media cloud connectivity, IPMX, and other cutting-edge technologies.
To foster networking and knowledge sharing, VidTrans 2025 will offer breakfast roundtables, hosted by industry experts, on February 26. There will also be welcome receptions on both February 25 and 26 at 6 p.m., free and open to the public, with registration.
Michael Bany, vice president of broadcast technology at Fox Corporation, has expressed his excitement for VidTrans 2025, stating that it will feature expert presentations on these timely technical topics, with an emphasis on security for live events and dynamic facilities for live workflows.
With its focus on video transport and delivery technologies, VidTrans 2025 is set to bring together industry experts to discuss current challenges and future developments in these areas. For professionals in the video services industry, this event promises to be an invaluable opportunity for learning, networking, and staying ahead of the curve.
