Upgrade to GORE-TEX Invisible Fit for Oboz Katabatic, along with additional changes, announced for spring 2025
New Oboz Katabatic LT Shoe Offers Lightweight, Sustainable Performance for Spring 2025
Oboz, a brand known for its commitment to the outdoors, has unveiled its latest offering - the Katabatic LT shoe. This mid-height shoe is designed for speedy day hikes and fast & light overnight trips, offering a balance of comfort, grip on varied terrain, and eco-friendly materials.
The Katabatic LT retains the superior foot protection and stability of its predecessors, while shedding 20% of its weight. The welded TPU around the toe cap and heel counter has been reduced, but the footwear remains sturdy and reliable.
The uppers of all Katabatic LT models are made with abrasion resistant and breathable 100% recycled polyester. TPU Hotmelt overlays and a reinforced TPU toe cap provide additional durability.
The standout feature of the Katabatic LT is the use of GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology. This technology employs a PFAS-Free ePE membrane and textiles with 70% recycled content. It offers the true fit, feel, and comfort of its equivalent non-waterproof model, while guaranteeing to keep the user dry. The Invisible Fit technology is lighter and dries faster, providing significantly improved breathability compared to traditional 'bootie' constructions.
Oboz is using GORE-TEX waterproof breathable technologies in its footwear for the first time, specifically in the Katabatic LT. The shoe weighs approximately 11.8 oz (men's) / 10.3 oz (women's) with an 8 mm heel drop.
The Oboz Katabatic LT collection continues to be available at obozfootwear.co.uk. The collection may be found in gear guides on various platforms, and the brand's hashtag, #obozfootwear, is associated with it. However, there is no information about any partnerships, collaborations, or sponsorships involving the Katabatic LT collection.
The Katabatic LT collection does not appear to have any specific features or characteristics that are new or different from earlier models, beyond the use of the Invisible Fit technology and the reduced weight. The insole in the collection features Ortholite ECO, made with 12% plant-derived bio-oil and 5% recycled rubber, further enhancing comfort and sustainability.
Interestingly, Oboz has created a mid-height shoe with Invisible Fit, previously only available in low shoe designs. The brand's hashtag, #truetothetrail, continues to resonate with its commitment to the outdoors.
However, the Katabatic LT collection does not have any stated environmental certifications or sustainability claims beyond the use of recycled materials in its construction. It's also not advertised as being part of any special offers or discounts.
