Upgraded Laptop 13 by Framework emerges as a notable choice for computer gaming enthusiasts

The Framework Laptop 13, the latest offering from the innovative tech company, is now available for pre-order. This laptop boasts a top-tier Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, delivering arguably the strongest integrated graphics on the market.

The Laptop 13's design is compatible with all modules and parts from the previous generation, making it easy to customise and upgrade. This feature, combined with the laptop's repairable nature, can save you a significant amount of money in the long run and help reduce e-waste.

The Laptop 13 is equipped with AMD Radeon 890M integrated graphics, offering a huge improvement for the laptop, particularly for gaming. While the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370's integrated GPU scores are categorised as "Good" for older or less demanding titles, it struggles with more graphically intense or feature-rich benchmarks.

The Laptop 13's gaming performance varies significantly across the different Ryzen AI models. The Ryzen AI 5 340 and Ryzen AI 7 350, with their integrated GPUs (Radeon 840M and Radeon 860M respectively), are suitable mostly for general productivity and light gaming only. They struggle with demanding games and offer low frame rates at higher settings.

On the other hand, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is the most capable option. Its integrated GPU performance is close to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (mobile), a discrete entry-level gaming GPU. This allows the Framework Laptop 13 with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 to handle some demanding games at 1080p with medium to low settings quite effectively.

However, thermal management is a consideration as the Framework Laptop 13 (2025) uses a redesigned cooling system. While idle temperatures are reasonable, keyboard heat rises noticeably under load, which may affect comfort during extended gaming sessions.

The Laptop 13 features a 13.5-inch, up to 2.8k, 120Hz display, and supports up to 96GB of RAM. The starting price for the DIY edition is $899, and the pre-built edition costs $1099. Additionally, the Laptop 13 offers the option to install Ubuntu or Mint as the operating system instead of Windows 11.

In other news, Framework also announced a desktop mini PC today, designed specifically for gamers. More details on the latest announcements from Framework will be shared soon. Stay tuned for further updates.
