Viettel to Triple 5G Stations by 2025, Dominating Vietnam's Market

Viettel, Vietnam's leading telecom operator, is rapidly expanding its 5G network. It aims to triple its 5G stations to 1 million by 2025, outnumbering all other carriers combined. The company's 5G user growth is faster than in China and Thailand. Viettel launched its 5G network with 6,500 stations last October, covering key areas nationwide. Since then, Viettel's 5G user base has surged to 10 million, nearing its year-end target of 12 million. The company plans to install another 22,000 stations by 2025, bringing the total to 1 million, three times the initial number and twice the total operated by other carriers as of June. Viettel's aggressive expansion is driving a significant increase in 5G traffic. In Thailand and China, average 5G traffic has risen by 1.5 times. Viettel's 5G users are consuming data at double the rate of 4G subscribers. The overall 5G data consumption in Vietnam has also doubled. The company led the market in Q1 this year with over 8 million 5G users, followed by VNPT with 4 million and MobiFone with 2 million. Within just two quarters, Viettel added 2 million new 5G subscribers. Viettel's rapid 5G expansion is transforming Vietnam's telecom landscape. With ambitious plans to triple its stations to 1 million by 2025, the company is set to maintain its leading position in 5G users and data consumption.
