Volvo's XC90 Continues to Shine: Tech Brand of the Year and More

Volvo has once again proven its prowess in the automotive industry, earning the coveted title of Tech Brand of the Year in the Car Tech Awards. This recognition comes as no surprise, given Volvo's commitment to technological innovation across various domains.

The Volvo XC90, a testament to this commitment, has also been making waves. It has been voted the Professional Drivers Luxury SUV of the Year and Car Dealer's Used Large Car of the Year. The XC90's success is even more impressive considering it was first released nine years ago and continues to thrive.

One of the standout features of the XC90 is its optional Bowers and Wilkins sound system. This audio system, enhanced by Dirac Research's sound processing, has won an award for its exceptional sound experience.

Volvo's dedication to safety is evident in the XC90's new safety equipment. Part of Volvo's strategy to prevent accidents and save lives, this equipment is expected to help the company achieve its goal of no deaths in their cars by 2020.

Looking ahead, the XC90 is set for an electric makeover. An electric Volvo XC90 is confirmed for 2022, complete with advanced LiDAR and driver-assist functions as standard.

Volvo's technological prowess extends beyond safety and electric powertrains. The company's Drive-E engines, while not as noisy as some, are considered as good as any other downsized range of engines in the world. The Volvo Sensus touchscreen, found in the 90 Series cars, has been recognized as 'Most User Friendly Tech'. It offers a model of simplicity and sophistication, delivering clear graphics and easy navigation.

Volvo has also made a name for itself in the realm of connectivity and in-car entertainment. The new 2015 Volvo XC90 will feature the most technologically sophisticated and comprehensive range of safety equipment. Moreover, Volvo's Sensus touchscreen system on the 90 Series cars has been recognized as 'Most User Friendly Tech'.

In the Busworld Digital Awards, Volvo was recognised as a technological leader, winning in the category of Best In-Car-Entertainment-System. Companies such as ACTIA, BatOnRoute, and Molead were also recognised for their innovative digital cockpit and intelligent cabin systems specifically for buses.

John Wakefield, Volvo's UK Managing Director, made a statement about the awards, expressing his pride in the company's achievements and reiterating Volvo's commitment to technological innovation. With Volvo's mission to prevent any deaths in their cars by 2020, it's clear that they are not just setting the standard in technology, but also in safety.

The original XC90 took Volvo 12 years to replace, indicating its enduring popularity. With the electric XC90 on the horizon, it seems Volvo is set to continue its reign as a technological leader in the automotive industry.
