Volvo Unveils PU2000: Cutting-Edge Battery Energy Storage System

Volvo Group has unveiled the PU2000, a cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), at its Customer Day in Gothenburg. Elisabeth Larsson, SVP and Head of Sales & Services at Volvo Energy, hailed the PU2000 as a testament to the company's growing presence in energy solutions.

The PU2000, developed and manufactured in Sweden, offers a range of benefits. It optimizes energy costs, ensuring operational continuity, and enables advanced site energy management. The system supports peak shaving, load shifting, and integration with electric vehicle charging. It can also operate independently in 'island mode'.

The PU2000 seamlessly integrates with Volvo's Site Controller and Cloud Energy Management System (VEMS). This allows for advanced energy management and resiliency, accelerating the transition to electrification. The system was officially introduced at Volvo Group's Customer Day on October 1, 2025.

The PU2000, a product of Volvo Group's expansion into energy solutions, offers seamless integration, safety and quality, and flexible performance. Its development was initiated by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), which is also involved in its manufacturing. With the PU2000, Volvo Group continues to drive innovation in energy storage and management.
