Wrightbus, a leading innovator in zero-emission transport, has launched its latest creation, the 6×2 StreetDeck bus. This milestone comes after two years of development and is set to meet strong international demand.
The 6×2 StreetDeck was simultaneously produced at Wrightbus's manufacturing facilities in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, and Malaysia. This innovative bus will undergo testing in Hong Kong, with expectations high for its performance in markets like Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
Wrightbus has secured a £150 million finance package from HSBC UK to boost production and meet global demand. The company, which has transformed into a zero-emission technology leader since 2019, employs over 2,300 people and produces 95% zero-emission vehicles annually.
The 6×2 StreetDeck is a triumph of engineering, designed to handle various axle configurations and increased battery capability. Wrightbus CEO Jean-Marc Gales praised the bus, stating it's a testament to British engineering. International orders have already been placed, including twelve hydrogen fuel cell buses for WestVerkehr in Germany, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport.
Wrightbus's expansion has created jobs, with operations now supporting 7,500 roles in the wider supply chain. The company stands at the forefront of the UK's drive toward net zero, delivering sustainable innovation and showcasing British engineering globally.
The launch of the 6×2 StreetDeck marks a significant step for Wrightbus in its mission to provide sustainable transport solutions. With strong international demand, a £150 million finance package, and a commitment to zero-emission technology, Wrightbus continues to lead the way in innovative, sustainable transport.
