Xbox Game Pass standout titan is hailed as "masterpiece on all fronts," receives updated version - it's also playable on PlayStation 5 now.
In a strategic move to expand the reach of its exclusive titles, Microsoft has brought Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 to Sony's PlayStation 5 console. Originally launched in May 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, the game made its PlayStation debut in August 2025.
The enhanced version on PS5 (including PS5 Pro) offers significant graphical upgrades compared to the original release, making it visually richer and more immersive. The game's advanced Photo Mode and Developer Commentary mode have also received additional features. The audio design, a hallmark of the series, continues to powerfully convey the protagonist Senua’s psychosis through immersive sound. Gameplay improvements maintain the seamless mix of combat and puzzle-solving, with improved combat flow and more satisfying puzzle mechanics compared to the first game. Accessibility features from the original release remain intact, ensuring the experience is approachable for a broad player base.
The Deluxe edition available on PS5 also bundles the original 2017 Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (enhanced for PS5), the sequel, and a digital soundtrack, whereas the Standard edition contains just the sequel.
The game's release on PlayStation 5 marks a shift towards multiplatform-friendly strategies, with developer Arrowhead teasing a potential Halo 3: ODST crossover for the Xbox port of Helldivers 2. Metacritic has awarded Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 a "Generally Favorable" score of 81.
The Xbox/Xbox on PC version of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently available for $33.69 at CDKeys, offering a notable discount from its original price of $49.99. Additionally, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 1-month memberships are available for $16.19 at CDKeys, offering a significant discount on Microsoft's service.
With its strong narrative, immersive audiovisual design, and refined gameplay, Hellblade 2 is a suitable fit for Sony's system, given PlayStation's reputation for cinematic, story-driven adventure games. The game's sales on PlayStation 5 have been impressive, with Forza Horizon 5 being the only title to outsell it this year.
