YouTube's innovative approach now seamlessly translates and redubs any video to match your native language!

YouTube's multi-language audio feature, initially tested in 2023 with a select group of creators, is now available to millions. This groundbreaking feature, powered by Google's Gemini AI, aims to help creators tap into a larger global audience.

The feature offers creators two options for their videos: manual dubbing with custom voiceovers or automatic dubbing using machine translation and synthetic voices. The automatic dubbing translates English videos into Japanese, Hindi, Spanish, Korean, and more, with plans to add more languages in the future.

To enable automatic dubbing for all future uploads, creators can toggle "Allow automatic dubbing" in YouTube Studio's Advanced settings. For those who prefer manual control, turning on "Manually review dubs before publishing" in the same settings allows creators to review and approve dubs before they go live.

The pilot test of the multi-language audio feature was a success, with creators seeing over 25% of their watch time coming from viewers in other languages. Notable success stories include chef Jamie Oliver's channel, which saw a tripling of viewership after adding dubbed tracks.

However, it's important to note that the AI used in automatic dubbing may miss subtle tones, idioms, or proper names. Creators have the option to opt out of automatic dubbing or review and edit the AI-generated dubs before they are published.

YouTube's multi-language audio feature is designed to make content more accessible. Viewers can switch between the original and dubbed audio anytime from the video's settings menu. The feature also allows viewers to access more content by skipping subtitles and listening to translated audio.

With the full rollout of the multi-language audio feature scheduled to complete in the next few weeks, creators are excited about the potential to reach new audiences and grow their channels. The feature is a significant step towards YouTube's goal of making content creation and consumption a truly global experience.

In the Content tab of YouTube Studio, creators can preview, publish, unpublish, or delete audio tracks for individual videos, giving them full control over their content's translation and distribution. The multi-language audio feature is a testament to YouTube's commitment to innovation and accessibility, making it easier than ever for creators to share their content with the world.
