Zambia, Czech Republic Boost Tech Ties: Ambassador Visit Kicks Off New Initiatives
Zambia's Ministry of Technology and Science welcomed Czech Republic Ambassador Jiří Kyrian on September 28, 2025, marking a significant step in bolstering bilateral ties, particularly in technology and innovation.
The visit underscored both nations' commitment to fostering cooperation in digital transformation and knowledge exchange. The meeting centred around initiatives to boost innovation and digital development between Zambia and the Czech Republic.
Czech companies are increasingly interested in Zambia, notably in space technology and cybersecurity. The discussion highlighted previous training initiatives for the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) and ongoing collaboration with the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB).
The SLIM Project, supporting Zambia's National Remote Sensing Center, was mentioned. It provides expertise in GIS and remote sensing, software and hardware upgrades, and expert exchanges with European partners. The upcoming Tech4Zambia Forum, scheduled for October 27, 2025, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka, aims to expand dialogue on technology and innovation among key stakeholders.
Plans for a 2026 visit to Prague and the European Space Agency were also discussed during the meeting.
The courtesy visit by Ambassador Jiří Kyrian has further strengthened the technological and innovative bonds between Zambia and the Czech Republic. Upcoming events and planned visits promise to build on this momentum, fostering growth and development in both nations' tech sectors.
